Motherhood is my specialty and my heart is happiest when I am capturing pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and mamas simply holding their babies. After struggling with infertility, miscarriage, and postpartum depression and anxiety, I set out to encourage women to document every stage of parenthood because I know firsthand how fast time flies and how important remembering the details can be.
I am a Jesus lover, band director wife, coffee and sweet tea addict, former postpartum nurse, and stay-at-home mom to 2 miracle girls + our surprise baby boy.
My journey into motherhood was not easy. My husband and I struggled with unexplained infertility for 5+ years before becoming pregnant with our first daughter, Willow. What I thought would be one of the best days of my life turned into a very dark beginning to one of the hardest years of my life as I battled postpartum depression. I did not adjust well to becoming a mother. I grieved my pre-baby life. I felt an immense amount of guilt because I had prayed so hard for the beautiful soul God had given us and yet I could not love her the way I envisioned.
In the midst of my depression, we experienced a miscarriage. Despite our loss, our miscarriage allowed us to grow in our faith, our marriage, and our parenting. It was during this time that God blessed us with our rainbow baby, Clover. We made several changes to prevent a repeat of my postpartum depression after Clover was born, including an unmedicated birth and placenta encapsulation.
And then there were 3. When we thought our family was complete, God gave us our sweet baby boy, Woodsen. Woods was born via the most perfect water home birth. He has grown my patience and empathy more than anything after he was diagnosed with autism shortly after his second birthday. He has the sweetest soul and cheeky grin. I know God gave him to us for a reason, and I wouldn't change him for the world.
I share my journey of infertility, motherhood, postpartum depression and being an autism mom openly because I have a God-given desire to help other women and families who have similar experiences to mine. I use my training as a postpartum nurse to educate women on birth options, breastfeeding, and mental health support. I use my photography to document all of the details. No matter what your journey look likes, it makes you who you are. Convincing women to capture each moment of parenthood is important to me because I wish I had done a better job of it for myself.
In my free time you can find me shopping on Amazon or at Target, eating at Chick-fil-a, sipping a cup of cold coffee (#momlife) from my collection of fox mugs, gardening with my family, chasing chickens, cleaning and organizing (type A personality over here), and bingewatching Parenthood, Gilmore Girls, or Sweet Magnolias on Netflix
